My contributions in the 2022 Inktober Challenge Inktober day 1 - gargoyle - The Car Wash Gargoyle is an odious beast that perches on the exits of car washes, anxiously awaiting its chance to spew the contents of its gullet on a sparkling automobile Inktober day 2- scurry- The Scurry Beetle is only visible when you happen to see it at the edge of your vision. When you turn to look at it directly, it disappears Inktober day 3 -bat - The Hair Bat is not interested in eating fruit or insects but it loves to fly into someone's hair and wreak havoc. The more hair, the better... Inktober day 4-scallop- The Werescallop is a savage beast that inhabits desolate seashores. It is invulnerable to most substances but it has a susceptibility to melted butter Inktober day 5-flame- The Flame Midge is a very small insect that likes to be near open fires, such as campfires. It flies through the flame, impervious to the heat, and, on occasion, delivers a burning sting to persons nearby with exposed skininkot Inktober day 6-bouquet- The Bouquet Badger is a very rare creature as it has been hunted ruthlessly by the perfume industry. Similar to a skunk in its markings, it is unique in its scent, which smells like fresh-cut flowers Inktober day 7-trip- The Trip Worm is renowned by psychedelic aficionados to provide powerful hallucinations when it is swallowed live by the user. This is amplified when listening to the Fuzzy Road show on Bagel Radio Inktober day 8-match- The Match-head Moth is named after its antennae, which strongly resemble wooden matches. Oddly enough, these antennae provide bioluminescence in dimly lit conditions Inktober day 9-nest- The Empty-Nest Crow is known to toss all of its chicks out of the nest, save one. It is unknown what criteria it uses to select this chick, although it has been noted that the survivors are usually quieter Inktober day 10 - crabby- The Crabby Toad is a miserable creature that avoids even its own kind. It detests being touched and excretes a smelly black ooze when this occurs. Inktober day 11 - eagle - The Smeagol Eagle is an unattractive raptor that lives in caves and feeds on blind fish and whatever else it can catch. It likes to line its nest with shiny objects, particularly jewelry Inktober day 12- forget - The Forget-Me-Nautilius is a brightly coloured creature with a splendid floral pattern on its shell Inktober day 13- kind - One of the rarest mustelids is the Kind Wolverine, which is actually quite affectionate -unlike its cousins. It is also unique in that it is strictly a vegetarian. Inktober day 14 - Empty- The Empty-Headed Ant grows an empty cyst on its head that has the shape of a feared predator. This has the effect of keeping rival ants from harassing it. Inktober day 15- Armadillo - The Armadillo Pike is a frustrating fish to catch. When hooked, it coils suddenly into a ball, often snapping the fishing line! Inktober day 16 - fowl- The Foul Fowl (or Fo-Fo as it is called) is a noxious featherless bird that has the nasty habit of rolling in the feces of other creatures. Its stench is more than enough to keep predators at bay. Inktober day 17- salty - Unlike most slugs, the Salty Slug thrives on salt and coats its body with crystals. The purpose behind this practice is unknown but it may make the slug unappetising to potential predators Inktober day 18- scrape - A species of black fly, known as the Scrape Fly, gouges a slash in the flesh of its host and then laps up the welling blood pool. Some bites leave permanent scars Inktober day 19- ponytail - The Ponytail Marmoset uses tree sap to shape its characteristic hair tuft. The size of the ponytail indicates its status within its group. Inktober day 20 - bluff- When threatened by an adversary, the Bluff Cat arches its hind legs and displays a fearsome face with its unusual markings. Inktober day 21 (the home stretch)- bad dog- The Bad Dog Flea itches its host so badly, it has been known to drive even the most gentle dog into madness Inktober day 22- heist - The Heist Gull is renowned for stealing food from others, sometimes even out of their hands! Inktober day 23- booger - The Booger Beetle likes to burrow in the nostrils of sleepers. It is attracted by the sounds of snoring. Inktober day 24- fairy- The male Fairy Angelfish swim in circles, with their brilliant colours and bioluminescence, hoping to attract a female. These are often called "fairy circles". Once selected, the male turns off his glow, and leaves his mates behind. Inktober day 25- tempting - Birdwatchers everywhere seek to glimpse a pair of Tempting Tits. A welcome sight on any day. Inktober day 26- ego - One of the most feared parasites is the Ego Flatworm. When a host eats contaminated meat, the worm enters the body and matures in the cerebral cortex. At that point, the host experiences severe headaches, partial blindness and eventually insanity and death. Inktober day 27- snack - The Snack Terrier has been bred to discern the different sounds of various potato chip bags when they are opened. Inktober day 28- camping - The Camping Warbler uses leaves to create a "tent" over its nest. Inktober day 29- uh-oh- The Uh-Oh Wasp is a giant insect that enjoys flying into open car windows and creating havoc inside the vehicle. Inktober day 30- gear - The Gearpard is related to leopards but it has a distinctive pattern on its fur, with the spots resembling small gears. Inktober day 31 - farm- One of the most endearing creatures is the Farm Girl -quick to help out, curious by nature and very loyal to her animal friends. She doesn't own a XBox but she knows how to ride a horse. She leads an interesting life and she has many stories to share. There, I did it - five years in a row! The whole collection!
